Deep Sea Moments No. 3

No sunlight reaches the deep sea, there are high pressures and it is cold. The conditions there are therefore extreme, and yet the deep sea is home to a wide variety of organisms. During the dives, the MARUM diving robots encounter some of these fascinating creatures on the ocean floor and on the way there from time to time. Chimaeras, deep-sea isopods and deep-sea cucumbers are just a few examples of the organisms found in this unique and largely still completely unknown habitat.

Center for Deep-Sea Research (ZfT)

Our colleague Volker Diekamp continuously documents the construction progress of the Center for Deep-Sea Research (ZfT) with his camera.
